How can I make my uPVC conservatory look better?

Over the past 30 years, conservatories have been immensely popular, not least because they are a great way to add extra living space without having to upgrade to a bigger property.

It is thought that almost 20 per cent of homeowners in the UK have a conservatory. But while many of these will be up-to-the-minute in terms of design and energy efficiency, many more will be lacking insulation and beginning to look somewhat tired.

If your conservatory falls into the latter category, don’t panic – you really don’t need to knock it down and start again. There are several ways you can carry out all-around improvements on your uPVC conservatory without looking at a pile of rubble or even breaking the bank.

Replace the roof

One of the biggest improvements you can make to an old conservatory is to replace the old roof with a modern, energy-efficient alternative. Removing an old polycarbonate roof and replacing it with a new glass roof, or even an ultra-efficient solid or tiled roof will make a world of difference to your property both in terms of looks and energy efficiency. Modern glass, tiled, or hybrid conservatory roofs have much lower U-values than traditional old polycarbonate roofs, meaning they are much better at reducing heat loss during the winter and preventing the space from overheating during the summer.
